So we are coming towards the end of 2016 and it’s time to start looking forward 2017, and I am excited to say that I have big plans for next year, firstly the release of my novel The Secret Diary of a Hotel Entertainer and just as exciting I was going to do this big road trip across America on my own, but that’s somewhat developed and I have made even bigger plans to drive from the UK to the USA on an epic adventure which I have called One Epic Road Trip and I am going to be doing this for charity and I want to share this experience with all of you my readers old and new…

The Project (One Epic Road Trip)

Next year myself and a few friends will be embarking on my Project called One Epic Road Trip. We will be driving from the UK through Europe, Russia, Asia, Alaska, Canada and across the USA to raise money for, 4x charities. As we embark on this adventure we will be filming a reality/travel documentary, that will be aired on a weekly basis and edited whilst on the road and showed through social media including YouTube, Facebook Live Chat, Snap Chat, Instagram Story and more so that we can share the project world-wide and raise money and awareness for my chosen charities. I will also be blogging about this on the dedicated website to the project as well as keeping Outside the Bubble UK (this blog) updated as its my baby.

What charities will we be raising money for and why?

This was so hard to pick as there are so many deserving charities out there, but I have chosen theses charities and my overall goal is to make £30,000 between the four charities that’s £7,500 per charity.

Alzheimer’s Society

I have chosen this charity, because three years ago my Nan was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and seeing how quickly it progressed broke my heart because she had managed to beat cancer and then was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I would like to raise money for this charity, because it not only goes towards the research into finding a cure for Alzheimer’s and Dementia but also helps the careers too, having helped my mum look after my Nan I know how hard this can be both physically and mentally exhausting and emotional on the family.

Crisis

I have chosen this charity because whilst I am very lucky to have a warm home and close family. There are many people in the UK that don’t and in these modern times, homelessness and poverty should not exist. Many homeless people are at risk and don’t know where they will sleep or even where their next meal will be. By raising money for this charity I hope to help homeless people get back on their feet. Because the way I see it how can a homeless person get a home if they have no job and how can they get a job if they have no permanent address.

UNICEF

UNICEF was established in 1946 and has been protecting children for 70 years, by providing lifesaving vaccines, supplies, school books, providing safe places for children in over 150 countries including in and around Syria, Europe’s refugee crisis, East & Southern Africa, Yemen, In the UK and anywhere else there is an emergency.  UNICEF receives no money from the United Nations and relies on donations, so that they can continue their vital work.

Mencap

Many people have some sort of learning disability and whilst we live in a more understanding era, we still have a long way to go to educated people to accept and nurture people with learning disabilities and give them equal opportunities. Mencap are working towards this and it not only supports those with learning disabilities but the families  and careers as well.

How The Charities Will Receive the Money & What Are Our Goals

We will not be excepting money for the charities cash in hand, instead we will ask that this is paid directly into our just giving page/pages. I am looking into getting all the charities that we are raising money for into one just giving page.

Our target is to raise £30,000 in total, this will work out as £7,500 per charity that works out as 6000 people donating £5 to the cause that would make £1.25 per charity, per donation. (More on this when the main website is launched.

How Will We Fund This Expedition?

Obviously as we are traveling we will all have our own money, I personally will be earning from my freelance work, whilst on the road. But this is a very big adventure, for a good cause so we will be looking for corporate sponsors.

I was lucky enough to attend The World Travel Market London (WTML) last week as a blogger. I had the opportunity to speak with a number of hotels and tourism boards who have all said that they would like to work with us and help put us in touch with local newspapers and radio stations in each of the hosting countries, there will be more information on the coming very soon on the main website.

If you would like to work with us by providing financial or material support to help make the trip a success and raise the profile of your brand please do not hesitate to contact us at media@oneepicroadtrip.com or lj@outsidethebubbleuk.com to discuss how we can work together, as we currently have a number of sponsorship opportunities for this expedition.

How Far Have We Got With The Planning

Well that’s a good question as the project is still in the early stages of the journey, but a lot as been done so far;

  • Business plan has been created
  • Planning the Travel Route
  • A logo now exists as you can see at the top.
  • The website will be launched very soon
  • I am currently creating a corporate sponsorship media pack that I will send out to potential corporate sponsors.
  • I am looking for some celebrity patrons for this Epic Road Trip
  • I have meetings arranged with each of the charities representatives in December.

So there you have it my lovely readers the first of many updates about my project not only will you get to read about my adventures, but you’ll also get to watch my documentary as well and hopefully experience it all with me.
